YIKES!! I had stopped counting and frankly was in no head space to post anything for a while. So, 100 days with an almost 4 year old… What has happened?
Her pre-school officially canceled the summer session, we had already decided not to risk sending her, we have no clue for the fall come September. She was supposed to go to the next up in age room this summer so that’s a little sad, but that teacher is going to do a virtual morning circle time a few days a week so I’m excited about that. That being said, the wee one is missing her teachers and friends. She will just random start crying and saying this. We have also been dealing with a late starting threenager stage… Fighting, screaming, arguing, always wanting to be on her tablet or in front of the television… I remember this all from my older kid! She was like 13 though… Oh well, I guess I have very strong-willed daughters. Not gonna worry cuz the older one, now 25, is an amazing woman.
How are we dealing with tantrums here? Well, besides me throwing them too. I have tried yelling, she yells back. Talking calmly and trying reason, works for about a minute. And finally telling her we aren’t talking to her until she calms down. Time outs do nothing, she bitches the whole time, and we do not want to spank. I mean her tantrums are not that bad to warrant spanking really.
We do now have a small pool in the yard for her and a splash pad that Grandma and Grandpa got her. The hubby and I have finally gotten outdoor furniture for the deck and yard, feel like a great relaxing home extension now.
The hubby has been work from home as long as we have been quarantined, and there is no idea how much longer. Good thing I like him or this could be bad. We have pretty much only seen each other for over 3 months. Besides a couple early trips to the store, before we started getting delivery, and having one friend over Memorial Day, who had been quarantined alone all this time. And when he was going home the wee one cried and didn’t want him to leave. remember they are just as starved for attention as we are.
Well, more later as I figure out what is going one here and all. But, in the meantime, let us know how you’re dealing with things. What has worked for you with tantrums or the isolation. Got a teen or grumpy parent? share it all at the link below
