Hard to believe it’s been over 5 months since our quarantine started. We’re taking this seriously. Several people I know have gotten ill, and a friends Dad passed away a little while ago. I see so much frustration from people being taken out on each other. I get it – I would also love to go out and eat and go to the bookstore and take my daughter to the park. Anger at each other over how we address this won’t stop COVID.

Be safe and be kind to each other during this time.

I haven’t posted on here as much as I had originally intended, as sometimes motivation beyond what I’m required to do for work (which has been crazy) and parenting takes a lot out of us. My wife and I still like each other YAY – and of course getting to spend so much time with my now 4 (!) year old is amazing in and of itself.

Been taking advantage of this time to grow my hair out again. 😛 Got my last cut in very early Feb, and that was an aggressive fade up the sides and back. I’ll be able to tie it back in a ponytail by the time the holidays come around. Right now I’m squarely in the middle of the “it looks awful you can’t go to work that way” phase. When I can pull it back, it won’t matter.

Our wee one wouldn’t have been in ‘school’ this year, but we sure miss the socializing that would have happened in her couple-day-a-week preschool. Hopefully over the winter session or spring. (fingers crossed) She’s such a social person and is so people starved, our one neighbor gets an earful of 4-year-old stream of consciousness any time she’s in the yard. We lucked out with cool neighbors, fortunately. We got a stack of her grown daughters leftover coloring books and stuff. ❤

We’ve also set up a nice art/school area and boy does she love her painting/creating. It’s exploded a bit more since this pic was taken like a week or so ago. 😉

March 28th, 2020

Oh hello world! So I guess we’re doing this – the DNS is all working and WE’RE LIVE.

…Hi?

It’s a really good thing I’m married to someone I like.. as well as love, of course. 😉 Cuz being together 24/7 can be tough. And great. I can and do work from home, and am very fortunate that my company has provisions in place for that. Was already WFH on the average of 1 or 2 days most weeks anyway before all the craziness.

We live in the Chicago metro area and are near one of the main centers of outbreak in the US. We have been taking ‘flatten the curve’ seriously. My last day downtown Chicago was March 12th, and was a regular Metra rider. Trips to the grocery store alone while my wife and 3½ year old are at home are about the only time I’ve been out.

We’re a fairly average family trying to weather the storm and do our part to help as many as possible. We’re taking ‘shelter in place’ seriously. It’s definitely hard, but we have it good in many ways that I’m seriously grateful for. I hope folks across the world and and across the US can work to get through this together.

That said – the intention of this blog is to highlight some fun and lighthearted times.
